Sedan- Betty Jean (Pond) Fisher, 86, of Wichita, Kansas
passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Homestead Health Center in Wichita,
Kansas.
She was born April 17, 1925, in El Dorado, Kansas to
Americus George Pond and Daisy Dee (Stewart) Pond. She was raised and graduated
from Newton High School in Newton, Kansas. After high school, she attended
Ottawa University and received her bachelor's degree in Education. She was a
public school teacher of vocal music at Truesdell Middle School in the Wichita
USD #259 for fifty years, retiring in 1997.
On June 21, 1959, she married Robert Fisher in Newton,
Kansas, and he survives at Homestead Health Center in Wichita.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in
Wichita, Kansas. She enjoyed volunteering at Colvin Elementary after her
retirement. She also enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and encouraging all
students to develop their talents.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Fisher, of Homestead
Health Center in Wichita, Kansas; a niece, Linda Gilbert, and husband, Greg
Gilbert.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be
held Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Homestead Health Center in
Wichita, Kansas (2133 S. Elizabeth). Inurnment will follow at a later date at
Ozro Falls Cemetery near Hewins, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorials to Rivercross Hospice or
Homestead Health Center. Those remembrances can be sent to David W. Barnes
