Wanda J. Enns, 87, died on March 8, 2011, at Asbury Park Greenhouse in Newton.

She was born on July 13, 1923, in Hillsboro to Peter G. and Elizabeth (Funk) Jost.

On April 2, 1944, she married Paul Enns in Downey, Idaho, and, after 66 years of marriage, he preceded her in death in July 2010.

Wanda was a member of East Holbrook Mennonite Church in Cheraw, Colo. She was a homemaker and mother and greatly enjoyed knitting and embroidery. She was working on knitting a prayer shawl for a granddaughter at the time of her death, and it will be lovingly completed by one of her other granddaughters.

Wanda enjoyed sharing her knitting creations with her friends, family and caregivers at Asbury Park. She was known as a great cook and greatly enjoyed spending time with her loving family and many friends.

Wanda is survived by her son, Vernon and his wife, Claire Enns of Lynnwood, Wash.; daughter, Rita Fitch and her husband, John Wingo of Newton; three brothers, Paul Jost of California, and Robert and Karl Jost of Hillsboro; two sisters, Jennie Duerksen of Reedley, Calif., and Katherine Sommerfield of Assaria; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, P. Jay Enns; and three brothers and sisters.

Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Newton. Pastor Gary Bell and the Rev. Jim Voth will preside. Interment will precede a memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday at East Holbrook Mennonite Church in Cheraw, Colo.
