Khanh Van Nguyen
Obituary
Khanh Van Nguyen, 65, died on Thursday (Jan. 12, 2011) at
his Newton residence. He was born on April 15, 1949, in Kien An Vietnam to Dang
Van and Chieu Thi Nguyen. He was married to Carlene M. Mustamaa, and she
preceded him in death on March 7, 2009. Khanh was a retired manager for
aircraft companies. He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in
Newton. Khanh is survived by three daughters, Michelle Garcia of Newton, Shanna
Nguyen of Newton and Lauren Nguyen of Wichita; two sons, James and JoDean
Newsted of Centralia, Mo., and Shane Nguyen of Newton; six grandchildren,
Alicia Garcia, Tonya Garcia, Nina Garcia, Marcus Garcia, Duke Newsted and Tony
Bland; and two great-grandchildren, Kian and Cadence. He also is survived by
four brothers, Khoa, Kha, Khue and Son Nguyen, and three sisters, Mi Mi, Nga
and Mai-Lan Nguyen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bong
Nguyen, and son-in-law, Steve Garcia.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton with the family greeting friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
and from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary
will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the family receiving friends
following the Rosary.
Funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of
Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton.
Memorials may be left with Our Lady of Guadalupe or Harry
Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
