Obituary
NEWTON — Rosalind Elizabeth Hirsch, 95, of Newton, died on
Monday (Jan. 23, 2012) at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Home in
Halstead.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1916, in Champaign, Ill., to Harry
W. and Frieda (Lang) Pyle. Rosalind married Pershing (Pete) Hirsch on Feb. 13,
1943, in Ft. Monroe, Va. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1997.
Rosalind belonged to First Presbyterian Church of Newton,
the Ladies of the Elks, and Falls Chapter No. 25, Order of Eastern Star of
Cottonwood Falls. Rosalind worked at Guerdon’s, Full Vision and Marina’s
Artisans, all of Newton. For the last decade she was a volunteer at the
Salvation Army in the food pantry.
Rosalind had a full life and is survived by sons and
daughter-in-laws, John and Linda Hirsch of Flower Mound, Texas, Robert and
Arlis Hirsch of Coolidge, Ariz., and James and Cathy Hirsch of Riverside,
Calif.; brother, Walter Pyle and sister, Virginia Duckworth, both of Memphis,
Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her
parents; brother, Harry Pyle; and sister, Frieda Anderson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at
Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First
Presbyterian Church in Newton. Inurnment will be in the Restlawn Garden of
Memories in Newton.
A memorial has been established with the Salvation Army
“Harvest of Love” in Newton; contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial
Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
