Obituary
Letha Arthenia Wilson, 91, formerly of Arkansas City, died
on Friday (Jan. 27, 2012) at Presbyterian Manor in Newton. Letha was born on
May 27, 1920, to Lincoln Signal Baker and Hazel Dovie (Harrison) Baker in
Arkansas City. She graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1938 and
attended Arkansas City Junior College for bookkeeping. On April 23, 1942, she
married Cecil Wilson in Arkansas City, where the couple made their home. Letha
worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone
and Farmers Insurance. She was an active member of First
Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Dorcus
Circle. Letha’s hobbies included oil painting, reading, flower gardening,
cooking and traveling.
She is survived by her son, Jack Wilson and wife, Anne of
Valley Center; daughter, Linda Brown of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Lori
Overton and husband, Cliff of Kaw City, Okla., Angela Tonn of Halstead, Chris
Ziegler and wife, Stacie of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Ben Wilson and wife,
Chelsea of Valley Center, and Ross Wilson and wife, Stephanie of Boulder,
Colo.; and nine great-grandchildren.
Letha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil;
daughter, Kathy Sapp; grandson, Bryon Ziegler; and sister, Emma Jean Wright.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the
Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Interment will follow in the Parker
Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Good Samaritan
Hospice or the First Baptist Church of Arkansas City. Contributions may be made
