Obituary: Lila Kay Hodges

Lila Kay Hodges, 64, died on Wednesday (April 6, 2011) at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, from complications from a stroke. 

She was born on July 24, 1946, the daughter of Dan Gadberry and Eva B. Darrah. A resident of Newton, she formerly lived in Haven, Lyons and Sterling. Lila was a homemaker and a member of Crosspoint Church. 

On Dec. 29, 1962, she married Donald R. Hodges in Hutchinson. He died on March 6, 2005. 

Survivors include: two daughters, Angela Wittman and husband, Rex of Newton, and Sherry Earle and husband, David of Sterling; two brothers, Larry Gadberry of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Roger Gadberry of Larned; three sisters, Linda Pitts of Lyons, Darla Vanmeter of Hutchinson, and Paula Small of Lyons; seven grandchildren, Ashley Brandes and husband, Paul of Gurnee, Ill., Jonathan Earle of Sterling, Tyson and Taylor Goldsmith, both of Newton, Austin Earle of Sterling, and Carson and Carlie Wittman, both of Newton. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Jim and Randy Gadberry. 

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. 

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Crosspoint Church Westbrook Campus, 2005 N. Hendricks in Hutchinson. Pastor Andy Addis will preside. Burial will follow at Peace Creek Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of the mortuary.
