Obituary: Marvin Lee PorterMarvin Lee Porter, 79, died on April 18, 2011, in Wichita. He was born on May 21, 1931, in Vona, Colo., the son of Carl H. and Agnes Davidson Porter. He married Nina Melton on June 25, 1955, in Newton. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Karen (Tom) Thibault of Wichita, Kathy (Charlie) Young of St. Jackson, Fla., and Sharon (Keith) Johnson of Lawrence; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Porter of Newton; five sisters, Dorothy Williams of Newton, Hazel Abrahams of Newton, Bernice Winsky of Moundridge, Joy Payne of Newton and Esther Israel of Springfield, Mo.; and one sister-in-law, Jackie Porter of Newton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eldon Porter; four sisters, Beatrice Porter, Lorene Kater, Evelyn Hackney and Jean Pierson; and many nieces and nephews. Service was on April 22, 2011, at Country Acres Baptist Church in Wichita.
