Obituary: Isabel Rodriguez

Isabel Rodriguez, 92, died on Wednesday (May 18, 2011) at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Via Christi-St. Francis Campus in Wichita. 

She was born on July 8, 1918, in Newton to Refugio (Jimenez) and Cresencio Moralez. 

Isabel was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Newton. 

On June 12, 1939, she married Agustin Rodriguez Sr. in Newton. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1982. 

Isabel lived for her family. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, tending to her family with great love. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, cooking for her family and dancing. She and Agustin Sr. attended many dances together; they were inseparable. 

Survivors include four sons, Agustin (Mary) Jr., Mario (Rachel), Adolph (Cristie) and Alfred (Diana) Rodriguez, all of Newton; two daughters, Lydia (Charles) Jones and Rosie Rodriguez, all of Newton; one brother, Reyes "King" Moralez of Wichita; one sister, Juanita Juarez of Newton; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Family preceding her in death were her parents; her spouse; five brothers, Fidencio Sandate, Jose Moralez, Elario Moralez, Santiago Moralez and Victor Moralez; two sisters, Emilia Moralez and Esperanza Moralez; and two grandchildren, Gilbert Jones and Mario Gilbert Rodriguez. 

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family greeting from 2 to 4 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, all at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. 

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. 

The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Father Juan Garza will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton. 

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home at 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
