Thomas W. Hall, 95, died on Saturday (March 12, 2011) at Memorial Home in Moundridge.

Thomas Hall was born on May 21, 1915, in Arkansas City to Harrison and Carrie (Albin) Hall. He was one of five children: brothers, Delbert and Harrison Hall; sister, Mary Dee Schroeder; and step-sister, Marie Buck. He was a 1934 graduate of Newton High School and a letterman in football, basketball and track. He attended Wichita State University and graduated from Bethel College. He played basketball for both colleges. He worked at the Santa Fe Rail Mill and retired from the railroad in 1978. He was a member of the Railroad Clerk Union and Newton Bible Church.

He married Elinor Friesen on June 1, 1951, at First Baptist Church in Newton. They were married for 59 years. She survives in the home.

In his final years, Thomas suffered from dementia. Elinor cared for him in the home until she was unable. His final residence was the Memorial Home in Moundridge until he was called to his eternal home.

He also is survived by his children, Gordon and Deloris Hall of Tecumseh, Loretta and Kevin Ayers of Elbing, Debra and Eugene Cook of Sissonville, W.Va., Karen and Byron Sellars of Valrico, Fla., and Richard and Kathy Hall of Newton; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Carrie Hall; brothers, Delbert and Harrison Hall; sister, Mary Dee Schroeder; and step-sister, Marie Buck.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Newton Bible Church in Newton. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

A memorial has been set up for Newton Bible Church, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
