Obituary
Joyce M. Maier, 68, died Wednesday
(April 12, 2017) at her Newton residence. She was born May 2, 1948,
in Hays to Cecil and Wilma (Saleen) Puckett. She was a 1966 graduate
of Trego High School and attended Fort Hays State University. On June
11, 1967, she married Donald G. Maier in Wakeeney. He preceded her in
death in 1993. She worked as an office manager for surgical
associates of Hays for nearly 36 years.
Joyce was active in the Newton
community as a member of the Carriage Factory Art Gallery, lifetime
member of the Friends of the Library, board member and volunteer at
Grand Central senior center and was active with the Red Hat Ladies.
She was also a benefactor of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ogallah.
Of all of Joyce's many activities and memberships her greatest joy
was that of being a loving mother and friend to many.
She is survived by her daughter Shelby
of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband; and one brother, Lloyd Puckett.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m.
Monday (April 17, 2017) at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family
receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The casket will be open one
hour prior to the service in Hays.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m.
Tuesday (April 18, 2017) at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hays, with
Pastors Marie Sager and David Reimer presiding. Burial will be in the
Ft. Hays Memorial Gardens in Hays.
