Obituary
Ramiro Angel "Ron" Montano,
89, died on Saturday (April 22, 2017) at Kansas Christian Home in
Newton, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1927, in Chase
County, the son of Juana (Camarena) and Juan Montano.
Ron was a member of the Our Lady of
Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of
Newton.
On Nov. 21, 1945, Ron entered the
United State Naval Service in San Diego, California. While in
service, he had ports of call in Guam, Hawaii, China and Japan. He
was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. Ron was honorably
discharged on Oct. 1, 1947, in San Pedro, California.
Ron was a member of the VFW Chapter and
the American Legion Club, both of Newton.
On Aug. 26, 1950, he married Margaret
Katherine Sauceda. They have celebrated 66 years of marriage. To this
marriage five children were born: Alice, Ron Jr., Richard, Alfred and
Gilbert.
Ron attended business college in
Hutchinson. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service, where he was
employed as a Railway Mail Clerk and Postal Service Expeditor.
His greatest pride was his life as a
loving husband, father and grandfather. His love will be greatly
missed by all those that knew him.
Preceding him in death were his
parents; a son, Ron Montano Jr.; grandson, David Montano; and
siblings, Amelia and Imelda Montano, and Henry Lepe.
Survivors include his loving wife,
Margaret, of the home; daughter Alice (Fred) Henry of Derby; sons,
Richard (Marlene) Montano of Topeka, Alfred (Diana) Montano of North
Newton and Gilbert Montano Sr. of Newton; brothers, Armando Montano
of Newton and Roger Lepe of Wichita; sisters, Irma Martinez and
Angelica Mancha, both of Texas; and numerous grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on
Tuesday (April 25, 2017) at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in
Newton.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will
begin at 6 p.m., led by Father Pat Malone.
The Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m.
Wednesday (April 26, 2017) at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's
Cemetery in Newton.
