Alvera A. Johnson, 94, died Monday
(May 1, 2017) at Via Christi Village in Wichita.
She was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Tintah,
Minnesota, to Barthel and Angela (Mertes) Schoenecker. For thirty years, she worked as a
Certified Nursing Assistant and Licensed Physical Therapist's
Assistant at Regency Healthcare in Halstead, retiring in 2001. She was a member of Sacred Heart
Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Altar Society, both of Halstead,
V.F.W. Post 971 Auxiliary, Newton, and Hicks-Davison American Legion
Post 268 Auxiliary, Sedgwick.
On March 24, 1943, she married Robert
E. Johnson in Wichita. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1983.
Survivors include sons, Syd Johnson,
Oswego; Robert (Alicia) Johnson, Tulsa, and Ed (Cathy Medlin)
Johnson, Sedgwick; daughters, Anita (Don) Holland, Slidell,
Louisiana, Pat Ropp, San Jose, California and Marcy (Roy) Aycock,
Sedgwick; brother, Vince (Barbara) Schoenecker, Houston; sisters,
Irene Rausch, Medford, Oregon, Marie Morrow, Grove, Oklahoma, Margie
Fields, Pearland, Texas, and Leona Vierthaler, Haven; as well as 21
grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughters
Joyce McGinn and Mary Jane Dealy; brothers, Edmond, Elmer and Bart
Schoenecker; sisters, Marcella Wilson and Helen Doffing; and
granddaughters, ReneƩ Ropp and Holly Querubin.
The Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
Thursday (May 4, 2017) and the Mass of of the Christian Burial will
be at 10 a.m. Friday (May 5, 2017) both at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, Halstead, with Celebrants Father Dan Spexarth and Father Jeff
Fasching. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick. Memorials may be given to the Sacred
Altar Society in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
