Obituary
Phyllis Rose (Jamison) Brown, 93, died
Tuesday (May 2, 2017) at Newton Medical Center in Newton.
Phyllis was born on May 12, 1923, in
Hutchinson, to Chester and Jessie (Troller) Jamison.
She married William Oscar "Bud"
Brown on Feb. 14, 1953, in Oklahoma. They were married for forty
three years prior to his death.
Phyllis was a devoted Christian and
strong in her faith. She was an active homemaker and enjoyed
crocheting, sewing, drawing and painting. She also loved being
surrounded by her family and loved singing songs to them for comfort.
She was active in the Four Square Church choir and had a beautiful
singing voice.
She is survived by her children, Rowena
Chaple (Willie) of Park City, Amanda Botterweck (Terry) of Newton and
Douglas Spencer (Frances) of Kihei Maui, Hawaii; stepsons, Jerry
Brown of Arkansas, Stanley Brown of Arizona; sixteen grandchildren;
numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, William Oscar Brown; parents, Chester and Jessie Jamison;
sons, Phillip Cope and Myrl Brown; as well as by sisters, Virginia
Bartlett and Ila Purdue.
A graveside committal service will be
at 10 a.m. Monday (May 8, 2017) at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. A
public visitation is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday (May 7, 2017)
at Petersen Funeral Home.
The family will be present to greet
friends from 2 to 4 p.m. during the visitation.
