Obituary
Meredith Adelaide Hanna Head, 86,
Topeka, died of Alzheimer’s disease on Friday, May 26, 2017.
Meredith was born on May 30, 1930, in
Newton, Kansas the daughter of Lucile Woulfe Hanna and Leo Coyne
Hanna. She graduated from Newton High School and earned a bachelor’s
degree in Sociology from Kansas State University in 1953. While at
KSU she met and married Ed Head, who played on the KSU basketball
team and in the 1951 National Championship game. She and Ed were avid
lifelong Wildcat fans. Ed preceded her in death in 2001.
Meredith devoted her life to her
children and her beloved grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was
spending time with her grandchildren and prided herself on never
missing a basketball, baseball, football game or a ballet
performance. Meredith was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Grateful to have shared her life are
her four sons, Ed Head Jr., Kevin Head (Sheila), Murray Head and
Torrey Head (Jennifer); one daughter, Tudy Giordano (Sam); nine
grandchildren, Jerad Head (CJ), Adam Head, Torrey Head, Kelsi Head,
Alex Head, Tyler Head, Molly Head, Jacob Head, and Hallie Head and
two great-grandchildren, Avenley Head and Jase Head.
Meredith was also preceded in death by
her parents and an infant sister, Millicent Hanna.
Family will greet friends on Tuesday,
June 6th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801
SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, where a rosary will be prayed at 7
p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 7th at Christ the King Catholic
Church.
Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel
Cemetery.
A special “Thank you!” from
Meredith’s family to the staff and support staff at Clare Bridge
for the exemplary and compassionate care they provided for the last
five years as well as to the staff of Interim HealthCare of Topeka
for their hospice services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to
