Helen D. Hensiek
Obituary
Helen D. Hensiek, 58, died on Tuesday (June 7, 2011) at Newton
Medical Center.
She was born on Sept. 3, 1952, in El Dorado to Earl and
Thelma (Frost) Bidwell. On June 30, 1973, she married Steven V. Hensiek at
Federated Church in Whitewater, and he survives of the home.
She was a member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church.
Helen was a 1970 graduate of Remington High School and earned her RN-BSN at
Wichita State University. Helen recently retired as the Joint Camp coordinator
for Newton Medical Center. In addition to her passion for her work, Helen
enjoyed cooking and baking and was well known for her cinnamon rolls, breads
and pies. She also enjoyed swimming, reading, gardening and sewing. Helen
greatly enjoyed spending time with her loving family and many friends. She
especially enjoyed her time with her two grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Steven, of the home;
daughter, Crystal Abasolo, and her husband, Jason, and daughter, Kailee, of
Wichita; son, Matthew, and his wife, Sarah, and son, Logan, of Newton; and
sister, Betty Wright, and her husband, Dean, of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marilyn
Hall.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity
Heights United Methodist Church in Newton. The Rev. Cheryl Jefferson Bell will
preside.
Burial will be in Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.
Memorials may be left with the Newton Medical Center Joint
Camp Program or Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral
home.
