Cornelius (Mike) Schmidt
Cornelius (Mike) Schmidt, 72, of 647 Michael Rd., a precision tool grinder at Beech Aircraft for 25 years, died Thursday (Aug. 24, 1989) at his home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Mennonite Church, with Stan McNeil officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory, rural Newton.
He was born Nov. 25, 1916, near DuBois, Idaho, the son of Bernhard and Sara (Koehn) Schmidt. On June 24, 1940, he married Sylvia Schroeder at Tabor Mennonite Church in rural Newton. She survives. He was a member of the World Wide Church of God in Wichita and had moved to Newton in 1955 from Kansas City, Mo. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Other survivors include one son, Bob of Ft. Collins, Colo,; three brothers, Arthur and John K., both of Newton, and Ben of Wichita; one sister, Mary Truax of rural Peabody, and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and all day Saturday at Petersen's Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Harvey County Hospice in care of Petersen's Funeral Home.
