Obituary
Roy Vaughn, 84, retired Coombs Poultry Farm foreman, died on
Monday (Aug. 8, 2011) at his residence.
He was born on Dec. 20, 1926, in Bakersfield, Mo., to Jessie
Earl and Bessie Belle (Nicks) Vaughn. He was a lifelong resident of the Bentley
area, prior to moving to Arkansas City in 2010.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Order of
the Eastern Star Chap. 5, and was a 32nd degree Mason in Halstead Masonic
Lodge.
On June 8, 1946, he married Mary Jane Stephenson in Bentley.
She survives at home in Arkansas City.
Other survivors include a daughter, Cathy Vaughn, and
companion, Rosie Hall, of Arkansas City; and brothers, Carl Vaughn of Oklahoma
City, and James (Lou Ann) Vaughn of Newton.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Vaughn; brothers,
Gene, Ralph, J.C. and Paul Vaughn; and sisters, Opal Brown and Iola Schaumburg.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kaufman
Funeral Home in Halstead. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United
Methodist Church in Halstead. The Rev. Jane Voelkle and Rev. Jennifer Whitt
will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Bentley.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or
Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home of Halstead.
