Obituary
Lloyd Eldon Hershberger, 85, died peacefully at home on
Friday (Aug. 19, 2011).
Lloyd, the fifth of 12 children of Amy and Elmer Hershberger
of Newton, grew up on the family registered Guernsey dairy farm. He served in
the Army in World War II and attended Southwestern College and Kansas State
University.
Lloyd married Lola Mae Davis on Sept. 11, 1949, and they
were married almost 62 years. He worked for Rich Food Plan as a national field
trainer, and then for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk on the night shift for
30 years.
He attended Reformation Lutheran Church and more recently
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Wichita.
Lloyd and Lola Mae traveled to Nova Scotia, Sweden, Russia,
India and across the U.S.A. They also enjoyed square dancing, bowling, Bible
study, Kansas Christian Ashram and family.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Mae (Davis); three
siblings, Elva Mae Dyck of Hesston, Tim Hershberger of Oklahoma, Marjorie
(Leland) England of Washington; five children, Steven (Suzanne) of Wichita,
Laleen Davis of Arkansas; Melody (Greg) Brake of Colorado, Brad of Augusta, and
Vanessa (Ed) Kugler of Texas; six grandchildren, Mike, Dan and Julie Brake,
Charles Kugler, Brandon Jones and Scott Hershberger; and one great-grandchild,
Collin Brake.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Viewing was Monday at Cochran Mortuary, 1411 N. Broadway in
Wichita. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church,
1101 N. River Blvd. in Wichita. There will be a luncheon following the service,
then the burial will be at Wichita Park Cemetery, 2500 N. Hillside.
