Obituary
Harriet V. Patton, 82, of Newton, died on Thursday (June 2,
2011) at the Halstead Health and Rehab Center in Halstead.
She was born on Jan. 12, 1929, in Newton, the daughter of
Archie and Mamie Felible Thomas. Harriet was raised in Peabody and graduated
from Peabody High School. Prior to being married, she worked at Kansas Power
and Light.
Harriet married James M. Patton on April 12, 1952, at the
home of her parents in Peabody. They lived in Walton for a short time before
moving to a farm near Walton where they lived until moving to Newton in 1962.
Harriet worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She worked at
Paramount Products in Peabody prior to working for several years at both
International Milling and later at Bethel Clinic until she retired. She was a
longtime member of the Walton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband Jim of the home; and a host of
nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother Harold
Thomas and one sister Maxine Porter.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the United
Methodist Church in Walton.
Private family interment will be held at the Walton Cemetery
prior.
