Obituary
Rosaetta Faye (Simms) Hackney, 69, of
Goessel, passed away on Saturday (June 3, 2017). She was born in
Temple, Oklahoma, to Cecil Elwood Simms and Sylvia (Cox) Simms.
In Stillwater, Oklahoma, when she was 8
years old, she was burnt over 75 percent of her body. The family
moved to Wichita, then Mulvane and settled in Newton. She met and
married Donald at the age of 15; he was 18. To this union were born
three children: Belinda, Denise, Donald II and adopted grandchild,
Kristina.
Rosaetta enjoyed her work for USD 411
as a bus driver for 25 years, and a Goessel Volunteer EMT for 20
years. She loved her family and time spent with them.
She is survived by her husband, Donald;
children, Denise Hackney and Donald Hackney II; adopted grandchild,
Kristina; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one and a half
great-great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren, two step
great-grandchildren; sister, Sherry Epps; in-laws, Merle (Barb)
Hackney, Galard (Eileen) Hackney, Carol (Roger) Blair and Lori
Hackney; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her
daughter, Belinda Barton; her parents, Cecil and Sylvia Simms;
sister, Ruth; and brother, Woody; as well as brothers-in-law, Terry
Hackney and Ron Epps.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday
(June 10, 2017) at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton.
