Waldean D. Wedel
Obituary
Waldean D. Wedel, 77, died at his home in Hesston on Friday
(Sept. 2, 2011).
He was born on Sept. 16, 1933, in Moundridge, the son of
John P. and Malinda Violet Wedel. On June 12, 1954, he married Sherrill
"Sherry" Kathryn Westerman at the West Zion Mennonite Church in
Moundridge.
Waldean attended Moundridge public schools and graduated
from Moundridge High School in 1952. He worked for Broadhagen Construction
Company in Newton. He was employed by the Hesco Corporation and later moved to
Hesston Corp., where he worked for more than 30 years.
Waldean was a life time member of the West Zion Mennonite
Church. He served for several years on boards of local credit unions.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry; two daughters, Wendy
(Lyle) Seger of Lawrence and Janelle (Ted) Brunner of Sedgwick; two sons, Chris
(Dawn) Wedel of Sedgwick and Corey (Teresa) Wedel of Lee's Summit, Mo.; a
nephew, Steven Fensky of Moundridge; and seven grandchildren, Rachel Seger
Cobos, Hannah Seger, Tyler Wedel, Caitlyn Wedel, Kira Wedel, Jacey Wedel and
Aaron Wedel.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Wedel
Fensky; and his parents, John and Malinda.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with family
receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Moundridge Funeral Home.
The committal service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the
West Zion Church Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the
West Zion Mennonite Church.
Memorial donations are suggested to the West Zion Mennonite
Church, in care of the funeral home.
