Larry M. Carnahan
Obituary
Larry M. Carnahan, 75, died on Friday (Sept. 2, 2011) at
Hodgeman County Long Term Care in Jetmore.
He was born on April 5, 1936, in Wichita to Harold and Adah
(McDowell) Carnahan. On July 14, 1990, he married Betty Chambers Smith, and she
preceded him in death on May 4, 1999.
Larry was retired from the State of Kansas as a supervisor
for the Department of Revenue. He was a member of the Ulysses American Legion
and a member of the former Elks Club in Newton. He also was an EMT and
volunteer firefighter and served on the police reserve in Ulysses.
He enjoyed spending time golfing, fishing and woodworking.
Larry enjoyed spending time with his loving family and many friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim Russett and husband,
Darren, of Ulysses; stepson, Geron Smith and family of Wichita; sister,
Katherine Semerad of Estes Park, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Erik and Jordan
Russett of Ulysses.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son and
daughter; and daughter, Kelly Carnahan.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at
the funeral home.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen
Funeral Home Chapel. Private family burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery
in Newton.
Memorials may be left with Hodgeman County Long Term Care or
Hospice of the Prairie, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
