Man Identified

The Marion Record

LEHIGH:  The Kansas Bureau of Investigations has released the name of the man shot and killed by an officer Tuesday evening in Marion Co.

The KBI says Robb Stewart, 50, lived at the house where members of the Marion Co. Sheriff's Office responded around 6:20 p.m.

The KBI said someone called 911 regarding an escalating argument and domestic incident at a home in the 400 block of E. Maria in Lehigh. The caller reportedly told authorities the man there had access to firearms.

Preliminary reports indicate, shortly after officers arrived, Stewart, who had a weapon at the time, moved from the house to a large outbuilding. Members of the Sheriff's Office, the Marion Police Dept., and the Hillsboro Police Dept. surrounded the structure.

The KBI said, about 15 minutes later, Stewart emerged from the outbuilding carrying his gun. He did not comply with orders to drop his weapon and one of the officers fired.

Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene.

No officers were hurt in the confrontation. One was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, and has been released.
