Melba Jean McMannis, 86, died February 23, 2017 at McPherson Hospital.
She was born December 1, 1930 in Stafford County, Kansas, the daughter of Ansel and Lily (Kitlen) Stewart. On June 12, 1948 she married Charles E. McMannis in Burrton. He died August 7, 2005. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Canton since 1995, moving from Russell. She was a member of the Canton Christian Church.
Survivors include sons, David K. (Tonya) and Jeffery D. (Christine), all of Canton; daughters, Jeanne Decker (Dwight) and Cathy Vogts (Ralph), all of Canton; one brother, Gary Stewart, Sugar City, Colorado; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle McMannis, brother Vernon Stewart and two sisters, Marceline Findley and Glennis Leslie.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017 at Olson’s Mortuary, Canton. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Canton Township Cemetery, with Rev. Darren McMannis presiding. A fellowship with family and friends will be held in Canton following the graveside service. Memorials have been established with Canton EMS/Canton Fire Department, in care of the mortuary.
