Darrell Fast died peacefully on June 11,
2017, in Leamington, Ontario, Canada.
He was born in Mountain Lake,
Minnesota, on Sept. 5, 1939, to Henry L. and Anna (Rempel) Fast. He graduated from High School in Henderson, Nebraska, before attending Grace Bible Institute in Omaha and Bethel College in North Newton. He was a past president of the Mennonite General Conference, and was the former pastor at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton and also served Mennonite churches in
Leamington and Toronto.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta;
children, Doug (Michelle) and Larissa; as well as grandchildren,
Avery and Britton. He leaves his siblings, Don Fast (Diane), Evelyn
Schofield and Elisabeth Smith (Aaron); as well as his sisters-in-law,
Anita Janzen and Betty Ann Bontrager (Merv). He was preceded in death by his
parents, a brother-in-law, Charles
Schofield; a nephew, Jeffrey Christopher Fast; and a niece, Julie Ann
Schofield. Darrell will be remembered by nieces,
nephews, colleagues and many friends.
A memorial service was held
June 17, 2017, in Leamington. His ashes will be placed in the Bethel
College Mennonite Church columbarium. A service of remembrance and
celebration is planned for 10:00 a.m. on August 12, 2017, at Bethel College
Mennonite Church. Immediately following the service, a coffee and
reception for family to receive guests, friends and relatives will be
held in the Fellowship Hall.
