Obituary

Willis A. Dyck, 80, died Thursday (July 27, 2017) at his Newton residence. He was born Feb. 12, 1937, in Hillsboro to Albert J. and Mariann (Rempel) Dyck. On Aug. 26, 1956, he married Alyce Crail at Parsons, and she survives of the home.

Willis was a 1955 graduate of Newton High School, where he was active in athletics being coached by John Ravenscroft. After high school, he attended Parsons Junior College on an athletic scholarship.

Willis retired as shipping supervisor for Bunting Magnetics in Newton. He was an active member of Newton Bible Church, where he worshiped with his family and grew his faith through the years. He made many cherished friends at Newton Bible Church.

Willis enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and in his shop working on various projects and teaching his sons how to work with wood and weld. After Willis and Alyce moved to their Stratford Place neighborhood, he made many friends and mentored the younger families, sharing his knowledge and tools.

He was a man of great faith in his Lord and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.

Willis is survived by his wife, Alyce of the home; sons, Alan and Sharon Dyck of Cicero, Indiana, Dwayne Dyck of Andover and Loren and Sandy Dyck of Wichita; daughter, Diana and Don Demaree of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Dyck; and sisters: Virginia Cook, Barbara Dyck and Norma Dyck.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday (July 31, 2017) at Newton Bible Church, with Pastor Matt Kruse presiding. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday (July 30, 2017), with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

Memorials are suggested to the Source of Light or Newton Bible Christian School in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
