Julia L. (Judy) Hebison
Obituary
Julia L. (Judy) Hebison, 72, Hesston, and formerly of
Salina, died on Thursday (Sept. 29, 2011).
She was born on April 4, 1939, in Roswell, N.M., to Richard
(Dick) and Julia Graves. On Sept. 1, 1957, she married Frank E. Hebison in
Roswell. For many years, she resided in Salina and later lived in Newton for
four years before moving to Hesston.
Judy was a member of the Bel Air Baptist Church in Salina,
where she was church librarian, vacation Bible school director and Sunday
school teacher. She held a master's degree in elementary education from Eastern
New Mexico University. She served as a third-grade teacher, the director for
Morning Out for Mothers through SCPCA, was a remedial reading teacher at St.
Francis Academy, and was a substitute teacher for USD 305, Salina.
Judy was a dancer, nature lover, enjoyed sewing, was an avid
reader, and loved to paint. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank E.
Hebison, in 1998.
She is survived by two daughters, Laurie Uhler and husband,
Dave, of Topeka, and Rachel Jantzi and husband, Scott, of Newton; a brother,
Richard Graves and wife, Joli, of Houston, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary,
137 N. Eighth St. in Salina. The Rev. Bobby George will officiate. Burial will
follow in Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina. Visitation will be one hour prior to
the service at the mortuary.
A memorial service also will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the
Schowalter Villa chapel in Hesston.
