Obituary
Carlis D. Sanders Sr., 72, died on Saturday (Oct. 1, 2011)
at his Newton residence.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1939, in Yeagar, Okla., to Ottho
"Pete" and Lola Mae (Stone) Sanders. On May 28, 1962, he married Mary
Prewit in Walton, and she survives of the home.
Carlis retired from the mobile home manufacturing industry
in Newton. He, along with his wife, maintained a rental home business in
Newton. Carlis enjoyed fishing and gambling, especially the slot machines. He
greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Carlis is survived by his wife, Mary Sanders of the home;
son, Curtis Sanders of Kansas; two daughters, Lourie Jones and Ruby Hammann,
both of Peabody; brother, Floyd Jay of Hutchinson; sister, Ruby Berniece of
Weleetka, Okla.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Carlis was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Carlis
Sanders Jr.; and one sister, Lowana Picket.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Graveside committal service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at
Walton Cemetery in Walton. Mark and David Lawless will preside.

care of Petersen Funeral Home.
