Obituary

Leona E. Sawatzky, 89, of North Newton, died on Sunday (Oct. 9, 2011) at Kidron Bethel Village.

Leona was born on Oct. 7, 1922, in Mountain Lake, Minn. She married Ben Sawatzky in 1943.

Eighteen years of mission service in India were followed by pastoring in Henderson, Neb., and retirement at Kidron Bethel in North Newton

She is survived by two sons, two daughters, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin.

The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton.

A committal service will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethel College Mennonite Church.

Memorial recommendations are for the Mennonite Mission Network and Kidron Bethel Village, in care of Petersen Funeral Home of Newton.
