Obituary

Robert (Bob) Hansen of Newton died on Wednesday (Oct. 12, 2011) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston at the age of 88.

Bob was one of six children born in Marion to Frank and Bessie Hansen on Jan. 31, 1923. Bob married Doris E. Mellott on Aug. 30, 1942, and the couple made Newton their permanent place of residence upon his return from serving his country during World War II.

He is survived by a loving family, including his only daughter, Norma Arnold; three granddaughters, Shawn, Kelly and Jennifer; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Krystene, Tanner, Madyson, Emersyn, Jackson and Lillian; and two great-great-grandchildren, Landen and Brooklyn.

There will be a graveside service for Bob at 9 a.m. today at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody. A balloon launch will be conducted after the graveside service.
