Lorraine V. Lyles
Obituary
Lorraine V. Lyles, 89, died on Friday (Oct. 21, 2011) in
Newton after a prolonged illness.
She was born on April 11, 1922, in St. Charles, Mo., to
William and Esther Deruntz Nolle. She married her beloved husband, Marcus A.
(Mark) Lyles, on Nov. 22, 1957, in St. Louis.
Lorraine enjoyed traveling and being with family, visiting
friends, playing with her grandchildren and taking care of others. "Open
arms, helping hands, caring heart," that was Lorraine. She was a lifelong
member of Hope Lutheran Church, life member of the Salvation Army Women's
Auxiliary, Good-Timers Meramec (Arnold) Elks Lodge No. 2372, and Moolah Temple
Club and Moolah Mounted Lancer Ladies.
Lorraine was a supervisor for Carter Carburetor in the 1940s
and "50s. She and her husband had lived in St. Louis until recently
relocating to Newton to be close to their son and family.
Survivors include her husband, Mark A. of North Newton; one
son, Mark W. Lyles and wife, Linda, of North Newton; one granddaughter, Olivia
Kathleen Lyles of North Newton; one grandson, Robert William Lyles of North
Newton; one sister, Loretta L. Hagedorn and husband, Larry, of Ferguson, Mo;
and a multitude of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends.
There will be no visitation. Lorraine donated her body to
Washington University Medical School. A celebration of life for Lorraine will
be conducted at the Scottish Rite Consistory in St. Louis, Mo., at a later
date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Walker
Scottish Rite Clinic (3632 Olive, St. Louis, MO 63108).
