Clara Bernadette Diringer
Obituary
Clara Bernadette Diringer, 94, died on Thursday (Nov. 3,
2011) at Asbury Park in Newton.
Clara was born on Jan. 29, 1917, in Cincinnati to Joseph and
Anna (Tissel) Behne. They preceded her in death.
Clara served in the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C., during
World War II. During that time, she met and married Paul Diringer on March 22,
1945, in Bethesda, Md. They were married for 62 years before his death in 2008.
Clara was a longtime Axtell Hospital employee. She enjoyed
gardening, needle work, canning and baking. She deeply loved her children and
grandchildren. Sharing ice cream with all of the grandchildren was a special
time.
Clara was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the
American Legion, St. Mary's Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by her son, Paul "Frank" (Helen)
Diringer and daughter, Linda (Stan) Guhr, both of Newton. There are five
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers:
Joseph, Edwin, Vincent and Francis Behne.
The Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at
St. Mary's Catholic Church. A graveside committal service will follow the Mass
at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at
Petersen Funeral Home. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m.
Monday at Petersen Funeral Home.
