Obituary

Pauline Bartley, 73, of Newton died on Wednesday (Nov. 9, 2011) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

Pauline was born on July 24, 1938, to Cole and Laura Pippin White in Alden. On July 31, 1954, she married Shelton Bartley in Sedan. Pauline had worked in the food service department at Bethel College and the bakery at North Dillons Store.

After retiring, Pauline and Shelton moved to Joplin, Mo., where they lived for 13 years. While living in Joplin, Pauline did home health care. They returned to Newton this past summer.

Pauline had been a member of the Newton V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gospel music, playing dominoes, bingo and traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Shelton of the home; daughter, Laura and husband, Harry Wolfe of Newton; son, Michael Bartley of Columbus; son-in-law, Randy Schmidt; grandson, Jason Schmidt of Carthage, Mo.; brother, Pete White and wife, Marva of Caney; sister, Betty Wilson of South Coffeyville, Okla.; twin brother, Paul White of Bartlesville, Okla.; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Pauline was preceded in death by her daughter, Jannett Schmidt; sister, Yvonne Bartley; and her parents.

Friends may call between 1 and 9 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Newton Christian Church. Interment will be on Monday in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

A memorial has been established with Newton Christian Church and Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
