Obituary
Sandra Sue "Susie" Woodworth,
78, of Arkansas City, died Friday (Aug. 4, 2017) at the South Central
Kansas Medical Center. Susie was born Jan. 9, 1939, in Newton to Carl
and Avis (Judd) Fey. She was reared and educated in Newton,
graduating from high school there in 1956. She attended Emporia State
University.
Susie married Merl E. Sturd on Dec. 1,
1958, in Newton. The couple made their home in Arkansas City. Merl
preceded her in death on July 16, 1991. Susie later married Lynn
Woodworth on June 29, 1996, in Arkansas City.
Susie worked as a secretary for the
First Presbyterian Church and USD 470. She was an active and devoted
member of the First Presbyterian Church and member of the GH Chapter
of the PEO Sisterhood.
Survivors include her husband, Lynn of
the home; children, John and wife Lee Ann Sturd of Arkansas City,
Jeffrey and wife Tricia Sturd of Overland Park and Linda and husband
Paul Johnson of Salina; stepchildren Kurt Woodworth, Jan Cole and
Anna Woodworth, all of Overland Park; a brother, Tom and his wife Gay
Anne Fey of Wheatridge, Colorado; sister-in-law, Bonnie Fey of
Newton; grandchildren: Brylee Soule, Jancye Sturd, Michael Sturd,
Missy Reed, Karlye Burroughs, Natalie and Ryan Sturd, Luke, Meg and
Olivia Johnson, Mason and Meghan Woodworth and Jackson Cole; and
great-grandchildren, Audryee and Brayden Soule and Greyson Sturd.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband, Merl; and a brother, Monte Fey.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10
a.m. Thursday (Aug. 10, 2017) at the First Presbyterian Church of
Arkansas City. Committal services are scheduled for 3 p.m. that
afternoon at the Greenwood Cemetery of Newton. The Reverend Amy
Baumgartner will officiate.
A memorial has been established with
Heifer International via the First Presbyterian Church. Contributions
may be made through the funeral home.
