Mabel C. G. (Rowden) Dye
Mabel C. G. (Rowden) Dye, 93, formerly
of Independence, died Sunday (April 23, 2000) at Kidron Health Care
Center in North Newton. She was born May 21, 1906, in Carthage, Mo.,
to Joseph H. and Alma A. (Henson) Rowden. She married Everett A. Dye
Feb. 17, 1926, in Iola. He preceded her in death Feb. 17, 1984. She
moved to Independence from Chanute in 1931. In 1990 she moved to
Newton. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in
Independence. She enjoyed decorating egg
shells, flower gardening and at the age
of 79 took up painting.
Survivors include: one son, Everett C.
Dye of Littleton, Colo.; two daughters, Patricia Shanahan of Wichita
and Sue Bretches of Newton; one sister, Donna Tabor of Kiowa; eight
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one
sister, Doris Violett.
Celebration service will be 1 p.m.
Wednesday at Webb and Rodrick Funeral Home Chapel in Independence
with the Rev. James Ayers of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and
from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
