Elvera Louis (Overholt) Gaede
Obituary
Elvera Louise (Over holt) Gaede, 81, died on Tuesday (Nov.
15, 2011) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. She was born on Dec. 7, 1929, in
Newton to Clayton and Loretta (Zook) Overholt. Elvera was a graduate of Newton
High School, class of 1946.
She attended Southern University in Bethany, Okla. She
married Robert Lee Gaede on Sept. 15, 1950, in Newton. He survives in the home.
She was a volunteer worker for ESL students and taught Bible
studies in Hesston and Newton. She was a longtime member of Eastside United
Methodist Church in Newton. She was very active in her children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren's activities and sporting events.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Gaede, two sons, Fred
and his wife Sharon Gaede of Emporia, Brian and his wife Dee Gaede of
Papillion, Ne., two brothers, Alfred Over holt of Springfield, Mo., Willis Over
holt of Newton and Elva Ellen Crisp of Prescott, Ariz. There are six grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and
Loretta Overholt, and a brother, Dr. Elbert Over holt.
A public visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8
p.m.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at the Eastside United
Methodist Church of Newton. Burial will follow the service at East lawn
Cemetery in Zimmerdale.
A memorial has been set up for the Eastside United Methodist
Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
