Obituary

Johnny Chris Lujan Jr. 48, Newton Johnny Chris Lujan Jr., 48, of Newton, died on Friday (Nov. 18, 2011) at the Newton Medical Center in Newton. He was born on Feb. 21, 1963, in Colorado Springs, Colo. He attended schools in Lamar, Colo. The family moved to McPherson, where they lived for eight years until moving to Newton 10 years ago. Johnny's life was filled with his love for camping, fishing, working on cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed being with family and and friends. Words cannot express how deeply he will be missed and how much he was loved.

He leaves behind his parents, Frank and Bertha (Vargas) Marquardt of the home in Newton; son, Johnny Lujan III of Lamar, Colo.; daughter, Valerie Gonzales and husband, Patrick of Pueblo, Colo.; brothers, Matthew Lujan Sr. and wife, Loretta of Lamar, Colo., and Ronald Cruzen Jr. and Tina of McPherson; sisters, Destiny Marquardt of Newton, and Sonia Marquardt and husband, Steve of Andover; five grandchildren, Isaiah, Serenity, Nevaeh, Sariya and Riley; along with numerous nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Johnny was preceded in death by two sisters, Valerie Lujan and Mary Jane Vargas.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m.

Wednesday (Nov. 23, 2011), followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. Interment will be the St. Mary's Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
