Claudia Gloria Estrada Jaso
Claudia Gloria Estrada-Jaso, 91, of Newton, nursing home aid
and waitress passed away on Sunday (Nov. 27, 2011) of Alzheimer's disease at
Asbury Park in Newton. Claudia was born on Oct. 30, 1920, in Newton. She
married Ralph Vega in 1943 in Wichita; he died in January 1977. She later
married Nick Jaso in 1989 in Newton; he died on Jan. 10, Claudia loved her
dogs, Nina and Coco. Being the oldest of 17 siblings, she helped raised the
kids and was like a second mother to them all.
She was a waitress for most of her life but loved traveling and spending
time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, sharing her recipes
and music. She loved many things in life and lived life to the fullest and did
things her way. She would always lend a helping hand if any family members
needed it. Her family loved her very much and will miss her deeply.
Survivors include her siblings, Mary Campa, Frank Estrada,
Jerry Estrada and Josie Palmer, all of Wichita, and Margret Corona, Marti
Montano, Cecilia Corona, Jennie Arrellano and Larry Estrada, all of Newton;
children, Carmen Davila, John Vega, Steve Vega and Lola Caire; grandchildren,
Richard Davila, Steve Davila, Kristina Davila-Longston, Johnny Ray Vega,
Christopher Vega, Shawn Vega, Emilio Caire, Danette Caire, Janine Burris and
Dominic Caire; great-grandchildren, Richard Davila, Nicole Davila, Jennifer
Vega, Jason Vega, Johnny Ray Jr. Vega, Natasha Caire, Jaden Caire, Maria Vega,
Miguel Vega, Gabriela Vega, Joaquin Vega, Raccine Bryne, Rina Martinez, Derrick
Gros, Danielle Talley, Bridgette Longston, B.J. Longston, Jessicah Caire, Josh
Caire, Ashley Caire, Aiden Caire, Kevin Vega, Ki-danny Vega, Katilyn Vega and
Jason Vega; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delores Vasquez
and Leonardo Estrada; and siblings, Ramona Estrada, Dionisa Estrada, Nancy
Arellano, Peter Estrada and Joaquin Estrada.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, both at Our Lady of
Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton.
Graveside and inurnment services will be at 11 a.m. Monday
at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton. In lieu of flowers, the family is
requesting donations be made to Asbury Park Retirement Community in Newton or
Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral
