Edna Hosford
Obituary
Edna M. Pruett Hosford, 93, Olathe,
died July 20, 2017, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe.
Edna was born June 14, 1924, in
Atchison, the daughter of William H. and Elsie Louise Meyer Pruett.
She attended Harmony Gardens Grade School and graduated from Atchison
High School.
She and Junior Dale Hosford were united
in marriage on Dec. 20, 1941, in Platte City, Missouri.
Edna and her husband owned and operated
several restaurants over the years, including the A&W Restaurant
in Newton for more than 25 years. At one time, they operated two
Buzz-Inn Restaurants individually, one in Garden City and one in
Newton.
Over the years, Edna especially enjoyed
raising and loving her Pug dogs.
Survivors include her husband, Dale
Hosford, Olathe; two sons, John (Connie) Hosford, Newton and Mark
(Natalie) Hosford, Lawrence; two daughters, Pamela (Tom) Hill, Lenexa
and Kathryn (Ed) Lee, Salina; a sister, Thelma Darnell, Olathe; nine
grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, William and Elsie Pruett; five brothers: Wilmer H. Pruett
Jr., Lawrence Pruett, Glen Pruett, James Pruett and Thomas Pruett;
and six sisters: Margaret Blackwell, Emma White, Barbara Pruett,
Loretta Plaisted, Esther Gillespe and Leona Scholz.
Memorial graveside services and
inurnment will be 11 a.m. Friday (Aug. 25, 2017) at Leavenworth
National Cemetery, Leavenworth. Final care has been provided by
