Gene Entz
Obituary
Gene Entz, 79, died on Friday (Dec. 30, 2011) at his rural
Newton residence. He was born on Oct. 22, 1931, in Newton to William and
Jeanette (Wayne) Entz. On Jan. 22, 1954, he married Donna Sabo in Newton, and
she survives of the home. He graduated from Newton High School and went to
grade school at Kelly and Kellas schools in rural Newton. Gene worked at Ross
Flour Mill and KGE. He retired from KGE in the Newton division in 1992. He
served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also served in
the National Guard and was honorably discharged.
Gene was a cowboy and loved his horse Flika and his dog
Shep. He also was a loving dad and husband to his four girls and wife. He
looked forward to spending time with his loving family.
Gene was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the
Newton American Legion, National Rifle Association and the International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union 1523.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; four daughters and their
spouses, Jacquie and Richard Oswald of Newton, Michelle and Kent Pfautz of
Hesston, Shannon and Mike Morgan of Walton, and Marishawn and Jerry Schmidt of
Newton; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Perry
Entz; and one sister, Elise Entz.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Columbus Avenue
Church of Christ in Newton, with Pastor Buddy Aldridge presiding. Burial with
military honors will be in the Elmdale Cemetery in Elmdale.
