Obituary
HUTCHINSON - Emily Mary Palacioz, 87,
died Sunday (August 20, 2017) at the Hutchinson Regional Hospital.
She was born on July 27, 1930, in
Strong City, the daughter of Victoriano and Engracis Reza Juarez.
Emily was raised in Elmdale, moving with her family later to Newton.
Emily married Hilarion "Leo"
Terrones in 1950, they later divorced. He died on June 20, 2016.
She later married Crestino E. "Chris"
Palacioz on May 12, 1972 in Newton. He died on February 5, 2001.
Emily had worked for a total of 50
years in the area nursing homes. She was primarily in the Nursing
Department while also in the Dietary Department of both Newton
Presbyterian Manor and Kansas Christian Home.
She was a fantastic mother and
grandmother; Emily loved spending time with her grandkids. She
enjoyed spending time in the kitchen making her famous Mexican food,
crocheting, listening to her Mexican music and dancing.
She was a longtime member of Our Lady
of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton and the Kansas Christian Home
Auxillary. She moved to Hutchinson in 2010.
Survivors include her sons, David
Terrones of Newton and James Terrones and wife Janet of Olathe;
daughters Sophia Martinez and husband Tony Jr. of Newton, Vera
Espinoza of Hutchinson, Gloria Warner and husband Kevin of
Hutchinson, Patricia Gosselin and husband Chad of Abbeyville; 11
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
brother Angel Juarez of Newton; and sisters Edith J. Rodriguez of
Newton and Rhoda J. Simental of Sacramento, California.
Emily is preceded in death by her
parents; husband Chris; and brother Ray Juarez.
The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will
be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday (August 25, 2017) followed by the Mass of
Christian Burial at 10 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic
Church in Newton. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery
in Newton.
There will be no visitation or viewing
as cremation has been effected.
A memorial has been established with
the building fund of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church,
contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E.
Broadway, Newton, KS, 67114.
