Crestino Enriquez "Chris"
Palacioz, 77, former Employment Office regional manager with the
state of Kansas, died Monday (Feb. 5, 2001) at Wesley Medical Center
in Wichita.
He was born July 24, 1923, to Alejandro
and Lucia (Enriquez) Palacioz in Florence. They preceded him in
death. He married Connie Cuellar Oct. 19, 1946. He later married
Emily M. Juarez May 12, 1972, in Newton. She survives.
He attended grade school in Florence.
At the age of 19 he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a 2nd class
petty officer from June 15, 1943, to Feb. 19, 1946, during World War
II. Following his service he attended Emporia State University,
graduating in 1951. He worked as a compiler for Boeing for 20 years
until retiring in 1972. After retiring from Boeing he worked for the
state of Kansas as the Employment Office regional manager until Feb.
19, 1990. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church
and the American Legion -- Wayne G. Austin, Post No. 2, both of
Newton.
Other survivors include: four sons, Joe
Palacioz of Hutchinson, Chris E. Palacioz of Wichita, and Jerry
Palacioz and Tony Martinez, both of Newton; a daughter, Leticia
Nielson of Wichita; two stepsons, David Terrones of Newton and James
Terrones of Olathe; four stepdaughters, Sophia Martinez of Newton and
Vera Espinoza, Gloria Warner and Patty Gumble, all of Hutchinson; a
brother, Senon Palacioz of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters,
Cipriana Vasquez of Tulare, Calif., Petra Martinez of Fresno, Calif.,
and Rosa Camargo of Newton; 25 grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by: three
sisters, Barbara Hernandez, Lola Pryor and Simona Palacioz; and a
stepbrother, Felix P. Delgadillo
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m.
today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral
Home.
Recitation of the rosary will be 7 p.m.
Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday
at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Fr. Floyd McKinney
officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic
Cemetery.
