Obituary

Brett Lee McAnulty, 58, died Saturday (Aug. 26, 2017) at his home in Newton after a courageous fight with cancer.

Brett was born on Sept. 10, 1958, in Wichita, the son of Melvin L. and Donna F. Westervelt McAnulty. The most of his life was spent living in Newton, where he graduated from Newton High School in 1977. He married Karen S. Hanke on June 26, 1982, in Newton.

He had worked for Boeing/Spirit Aircraft in Wichita for many years as a production manager. Brett was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Karen of the home; daughter, Jenna Lehrman and husband Luke of Newton; son, Brian McAnulty of Austin, Texas; parents, Melvin and Donna of Newton; brothers: Barry McAnulty and wife Janene of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Todd McAnulty and wife Penny of Newton and Mark McAnulty of Newton; and granddaughters, Adalynn and Emily Lehrman.

The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 31, 2017) with the Mass of Christian Burial being held at 10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 1, 2017), both at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton. Private family inurnment will be held later at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The casket will be open at the church after 1 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial has been established with the St. Mary's Catholic School and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
