Jerold "Jerry" Wayne
Donaldson passed away earlier this year at his home from pancreatic
cancer. He only lived 26 days after his doctor discovered and
diagnosed the disease. Jerry was 78 years old at the time of his
passing.
He was a special agent with the FBI,
working in Denver; Seattle; Springfield, Illinois; and Washington,
D.C. Jerry retired after more than 30-plus years with the FBI.
His last 15 years were with U.S.
Airways in corporate security. He was an investigator on the U.S.
Airways plane on "9/11" that was crashed by terrorists in
Pennsylvania.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and
was presented the Spirit of Honor medal from the mayor of San Diego.
Jerry graduated from Newton High School
(class of 1956) and Colorado University in Boulder, Colorado.
He will always be remembered for his
kindness and thoughtfulness, but most of all Jerry loved his Lord and
Savior; his wife, Dale Ann Donaldson; his family: daughter, Robin
Tucker and her husband John Tucker, Ph.D..; son, Erik Scott Huston
Donaldson; and sisters, Joyce Elaine Pyonk and family of Memphis,
Tennessee, and Judy Ann Winsky and her husband Gary and their family
of Newton.
He was dearly loved by his in-laws: Jim
Pilkenton, Michael and Kathy Pilkenton and family and Ken and Nancy
Pilkenton and family. Also surviving is the mother of his children,
Carolyn Donaldson.
Jerry was preceded in death by his
parents, John Donald and Violet "Vi" Donaldson (Newton);
maternal grandparents, Laura and Guy Alexander Huston (Americus); and
paternal grandparents, Otto and Maude Donaldson (Eureka).
There will be a memorial service
planned for Jerry at 11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 9, 2017) at the First
Baptist Church, Newton, located at the corner of West Sixth and
Poplar streets.
