Stucky, Howard

Mennonite Weekly Review on familysearch.org

HOWARD STUCKY
Howard Stucky, son of Chris L. and Martha Graber Stucky, was born Sept. 28, 1922 near McPherson, Kan., where he lived most of his life.
He was baptized into the Eden Mennonite Church near Moundridge and remained a member there until his death. He was a graduate of McPherson High School and Bethel College.
He was married to Mildred Dick on Aug. 17, 1947 at Mt. Lake, Minn.. They had over 32 happy years together. Added to their joy were five children, a son-in-law and a grandson last summer.
His love of classical music influenced the whole family, and all learned to appreciate his feeling of nearness to God when he listened to the music he loved. He was active in church work, humbly doing what was asked of him. He participated in the Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus, as well as the Eden men's and chancel choirs.
Although he was not ill, his high blood pressure limited some of his activities. He enjoyed having people around him; visiting and playing games with family and neighbors were evening highlights.
He died of an apparent heart attack on June 27, 1980 at the age of 57 while working with his sons Clair and Jerome in the harvest field. He leaves his widow, Milly; sons, Clair of Moundridge, Keith of Wichita and Jerome of the home; daughters, Teresa Birky and husband David of Haiti and Dorothy of the home; and a sister and husband, Geneva and Alvin Kaufman of McPherson.
