M. Kathryn Rose
M. Kathryn Rose, 98, died on Saturday (Sept. 4, 2010) at her
residence in Newton.
She was born on Aug. 12, 1912, the daughter of Musa (Lemley)
and Homer S. Goudy, in Chetopa.
Kathryn graduated with a bachelor's degree from Pittsburg
State.
For more than 34 years, Kathryn worked as a lineotype
operator for the Kansas City Star newspaper.
She married Delwyn H. Rose in Oswego on March 30, 1939.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Thomas D. Rose of Phoenix,
Ariz.; daughter, Judy Searl and husband Leonard; two sisters, Georgie Williams
of West Covenia, Calif., and Margurite Davis of Olathe; seven grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her spouse.
Visitation will be today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home, with Pastor Steve Friesen presiding.
Burial will be at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Oakwood
Cemetery in Chetopa.

care of the funeral home.
