Phyllis K. Mull
Obituary
Phyllis K. Mull, 68, of Newton, died July 8, 2010, at her
home.
She was born on Dec. 21, 1941. Her birth parents died within
a year of each other, he in France in World War II and she in an automobile
accident enabling the adoption by Kenneth and Clara Hawkins and came to Newton
in 1946.
She went to college in Emporia, Manhattan and Bethel and was
an artist. She married Eugene C. Mull in September of 1962; he preceded her in
death in March 2000.
She was a member of the Auxiliary of American Legion,
F.O.E., Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella.
Hobbies were animals, all kinds, warm- and cold-blooded
alike; flea markets; and auctions. She was a homemaker until she decided to
work outside of the home at various jobs, such as at the Salvation Army, where
she was a manager, and decided to work with her daughter at ServiceMaster and
Taco Bell, owned Mull Oswald Maid Service, better known as M.O.M.S. When she
couldn't work M.O.M.S. After her stroke and heart attack, she worked at Dollar
General and El Toro.
She is survived by her daughter, Rachelle Oswald (Robert,
son-in-law); grandchildren Stephanie and Patrick Oswald; her brother, John and
sister-in-law, Nancy Hawkins, of Lebo; niece, Navonna of Emporia; aunt,
Elizabeth Baker of Newton; brother-in-law, Robert Mull; and other nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Clara
Hawkins; uncle, Robert Baker; husband, Eugene C. Mull in March of 2000; her
son, Kenneth C. Mull in June of 2000 (he was never married; her in-laws, Harry
and Emogene Mull; and brother in-laws, Steven and Richard Mull.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday
at St. Mary's Church with Father Jim Mainzer officiating.
