Obituary
Vivian Geraldine Wakeman, 99, died late Sunday evening (July
25, 2010) at Halstead Place in Halstead.
She was born on Dec. 28, 1910, in Dodge City, the daughter
of Guy and Agnes Catherine (Miller) Houser.
As a young girl, she attended Dodge City schools, graduating
from Dodge City High School in 1929.
She was a lifetime resident of Ford and Meade County.
Vivian was a retired secretary to the principal of Dodge
City High School.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Rebecca
Lodge, having served as a past noble grand, and the Fowler Squares, all of
Fowler, and the Meade County Camper Club.
She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, in particular Gin
Rummy, and square dancing.
On Aug. 16, 1931, she married Leslie E. "Elmer"
Wakeman in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1995.
Survivors include a son, Leslie E. Wakeman Jr. of Salida,
Colo.; two daughters, Karen Bevan of Halstead and Kathy Wakeman of Brighton,
Colo.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family
present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead. Additional
visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Fowler United
Methodist Church in Fowler, with Pastor Rod Beavan and the Rev. Dick Robbins
presiding.
Interment will be in the Fowler Cemetery in Fowler.

in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
