Monsignor Irvin F. Lampe
Obituary
Msgr. Irvin F. Lampe, 93, former pastor
of St. Mary's Parish in Newton, died Saturday (July 3, 2010) at
Girard Medical Center.
He was born on on June 11, 1917, in St.
Louis, Mo., the son of Henry W. and Martha Helen (Miller) Lampe.
In 1962, he was appointed as the state
chaplain for the Knights of Columbus, a position he held until 1964.
He served at St. Mary's from 1967 to
1983.
He earned the Knight of the Year Award
for his 16 years of service to the Newton Knights of Columbus.
He retired in 1992 as the oldest priest
in the Diocese after serving at several churches throughout Kansas.
Recitation of the Rosary and visitation
were Tuesday.
Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m.
today at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Girard, with the Most
Reverend Bishop Jackels as main celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Peter and
Paul Cemetery and Mausoleum in St. Louis.
