John "Gerald' Klenke
Obituary
John "Gerald" Klenke, 97, a retired Santa Fe
Railroad conductor, died Wednesday (June 9, 2010).
Gerald was the general chairman of UTU from 1971 to 1978, a
member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wichita and Fourth Degree
Knights of Columbus.
He also was a former student at St. John's Military Academy
in Hays.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Irene and Helen;
daughter, Marjorie Ann Klenke; granddaughter, Theresa Elms; sisters, Wilna
Hornung and Vera Tully; and brother, Gilbert Klenke.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Klenke; children, Kenneth
(Mary) Klenke, James (Kathleen) Klenke, Mary K. (Richard) Elms, Corinne
Shearer, Carol (Ronald) Dreiling, Janice (Ken) Beebe, Jim (Judy) Langlois, Jack
(Thelma) Langlois, Jeanette (Richard) Tommer, Barry (Karen) Galbraith, Peggy
(Edward) Gahaghan, Tommy (Kathy) Galbraith, Rita (Mark) Baker, Jimmy Galbraith,
Monte Smith, Stan (Camille) Galbraith, and John (Susan) Galbraith; sisters,
Louise Conrardy and Eunice Schaapveld; 44 grandchildren; 64
great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Catherine
of Siena Catholic Church in Wichita.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, also at St.
Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
A memorial has been established with St. Catherine of Siena
Building Fund, 7335 W. 33rd St. North, Wichita, KS 67205.
Arrangements are by Downing & Lahey Mortuary West in
Wichita.
